Original retail paperwork for a Bush AC11 table radio, sold new on 26 July 1952 by Battery Services, Kettering, to Mr D. C. Burbridge for £27 10s (twenty-seven pounds and ten shillings). The lot is the receipt and guarantee only. The radio is not with the papers.
Bush Radio Ltd of London made the AC11 from 1949 to 1953. It was a wooden AC table set covering long wave, medium wave and short wave, with five valves (UCH42, UF41, UBC41, UL41, UY41), an internal frame aerial and an 8-inch speaker. Early list price was about £22, so £27 10s from a high-street dealer in 1952 is a plausible shop price — roughly £1,000 in today’s money.
Battery Services (Kettering) Ltd was a local radio dealer of the period. Named buyer, shop, date, price and model on the original papers make this a useful piece of provenance for anyone researching or restoring an AC11, and a standalone item of 1950s radio ephemera.
